Dawn has been with Kiel Thomson Company from almost the beginning. Her duties range from human resources and customer relations to bookkeeping and marketing. Her previous experience in the mortgage industry gave her a solid customer service background that she now uses to work with clients, subcontractors, and vendors. Dawn enjoys working for Kiel Thomson Company “because we’re a small local company doing some great work in Louisville. I’m proud of what we’ve done, what we’ve all accomplished, working together on awesome projects for some really nice people.”
After many moves as a child, Dawn and her husband decided to make Louisville their home in 1994. Outside of her many office duties, Dawn enjoys traveling all around the world. She’s visited 48 states, many National Parks, and numerous countries such as Thailand, Spain and the Czech Republic.
Michael has been building, remodeling, and designing homes for over 20 years. His understanding of the construction process has allowed him to play an integral role from project development to management. The most rewarding part for Michael is the client relationship.He appreciates the focus on clients, dedicated craftsmen and excellent reputation within the company. In addition, he looks forward to opportunities for growth with new clients and projects at Kiel Thomson Company.
Douglas is a financial professional with over twenty five years of experience as a CFO. Douglas has over ten years of experience in construction and real estate development. The remainder of his experience is in manufacturing and financial services. In addition to his experience as a CFO, Douglas has over 10 years of experience in public accounting. Douglas brings a wealth of knowledge of closely held businesses, internal controls and financial planning to the organization.
Kelly has worked for KTC for over five years as a sub-contractor and Project Manager. Kelly has 20 years of experience in retail management and has been in project management over 18 years. Kelly is motivated by believing that beyond building homes, we build legacies for our clients for generations to come. He takes pride in being able to understand our customers visions, then making them a reality.
Kelly and his wife Julie have been married 31 years and have two children and two grand-daughters. They enjoy traveling and camping as well as working with several mission groups in Nelson County and in Appalachia.
Mike joined Kiel Thomson Company in April 2011, but has been in the construction industry for over 30 years. His accomplishments include being chosen as Home Builders Remodeler of the Year and building six of the homes in the first intercity Homearama. While there are many, one of his favorite things about working with Kiel Thomson Company is “building energy efficient additions and helping our great staff meet our customers’ challenges.”
Mike is a Louisville area native, growing up in Buechel and moving to Westport, Kentucky when he was a teenager. When not working, Mike spends his free time woodworking, kayaking, and being an Assistant Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts.
Phil relocated to Louisville from Nashville over 20 years ago. He spent 16 years owning and operating a company that specialized in the restoration of older homes, specifically oriented toward specialty finishes. He’s had the opportunity to work on historical properties such as Farmington here in Louisville, Hyatt house (Henry County) , Eleven Hearths (Glenview), Berry Hill and the governor's mansion in Frankfort.
After working with Kiel Thomson Company as a subcontractor and consultant, Phil came on board as a job site supervisor in the spring of 2015. Phil said: “By working with these families I've come to understand how intensely personal and important the relationship between a family and their home is, and by extension how important our relationship with our costumers is.”
Paul joined Kiel Thomson Company in June, 2010. He enjoys the many challenges and learning experiences that each day presents. He’s been in the construction industry for over 14 years, 10 of which he spent running his own remodeling and handyman business. His favorite part of working with Kiel Thomson Company is learning about so many new things, such as “the use of high quality materials, new technologies in geothermal heating and cooling, new wave insulation products, and bathroom / kitchen tile systems.”
Paul spent several years learning the ins and outs of the construction industry at both Western Kentucky University and the University of Louisville. In addition to schooling, his past experiences and connections have given him access to additional learning classes and occasional home shows and product conventions. Paul strives to always be on the cutting edge of construction, and giving the customer complete satisfaction when the project is completed.
Kenan was born in Sanjak, Serbia. In 1993, he and his family escaped the war in Serbia and moved to Germany where Kenan worked in the construction industry. Kenan and his family had the opportunity to move to Louisville in 1997. After arriving, Kenan and Kiel met and began working together on construction projects. Kenan is a very dedicated employee, and can be counted on to be there to help with anything needed at any time.
Kenan, his wife, and two daughters live in Hike's Point in a house they purchased several years ago. Kenan is always busy updating and improving their home.
Steve has worked with Kiel on select projects for over 15 years. He joined the company in a permanent position over 6 years ago. Always having a keen interest in architecture, Steve came to KTC from the film business where he was involved in projects ranging from the thousands to millions of dollars in countries around the world. Working in senior positions, he brought in projects on schedule and under budget. “The logistics are the same.” Steve says, “There’s the mobilization of specialized crews, procurement of material, and establishment of critical path workflow that come together, creating a product that exceeds client expectation.”
Edina has been working in management for over 15 years, and has been with Kiel Thomson Company since 2015. She enjoys connecting with employees and making sure she can keep our office organized. Recently, she has been doing project support for our project managers, and she appreciates being able to see a different side to our production team. Her favorite part about project support is being able to work alongside clients and the team, ensuring that she can be the glue that keeps the plan together.
Edina, her husband, and two kids, live in Louisville since 2000. Edina’s hometown of Sarajevo, Bosnia, remains on her travel list whenever she and her family visit Europe. Edina and her family love spending time together by playing sports and running after their new dog, Duke.
Laura has been designing, drawing, and specializing in cabinetry for over 25 years. Her ability to listen to customer’s wants and needs plays well with her extraordinary ability to create drawings and plans that revive a home. One of her favorite things about working for Kiel Thomson Company is the ability to bring homeowner’s dreams to fruition.
Laura is a Louisville native who enjoys gardening in her spare time, and spending time with her rambunctious dogs. She brings joy to the entire team with her vibrant attitude.
